FCC Places Embargo On Bayelsa Govt House Press Statements

March 18, (THEWILL) – Sequel to the review of our earlier resolution passing vote of no confidence on the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr Daniel Alabrah, the Federated Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council, during its emergency meeting on Wednesday, resolved as follows;

That after thorough review of the situation and relationship between the Chief Press Secretary and correspondents of National media, the congress has further resolved to place embargo on all press releases from the office of CPS.

The Chapel resolved that as representatives of the National media, we can not continue to rely on press statements to report activities of Governor Douye Diri.

The chapel resolved to further review the embargo on Government House activities at her end of month congress for any further action it may deem necessary.

The chapel promised to continuously discharge its constitutional responsibilities as watchdogs of the society to ensure that issues affecting Bayelsans attract maximum attention in the media space.

This was contained in a statement after a unanimous decision of all the chapel members and jointly signed Chris Eze, chairman and Bassey Willie, Secretary, respectively.
