August 30, (THEWILL) – Barcelona are looking to offload winger, Ansu Fati, before the summer transfer window shuts, and clubs in the English Premier League are considering bringing the 20-year-old to England.
Fati has struggled with injury setbacks over the last two seasons and has fallen out of favour under manager, Xavi, who has preferred 16-year-old Lamine Yamal recently. With Barcelona needing to balance their finances, Fati is deemed surplus and his agent Jorge Mendes has informed top European clubs he is available.
This has caught the attention of several EPL sides. London clubs Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all showing interest in signing Fati. Aston Villa are also keen but are wary that the player may not actually want to leave Camp Nou. The three London clubs are only taking preliminary steps towards a potential deal at this stage.
Arsenal could add Fati to bolster their attack for their return to the Champions League this season. North London rivals Spurs want a new wide forward, with Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson and former Celtic man Jota also options. Chelsea are hunting another forward and have also been linked with Fati’s Barcelona teammate Joao Felix.
With the transfer deadline nearing, it remains to be seen if any EPL club can strike a late deal to bring the talented but injury-prone Fati to England before the window shuts.
