May 23, (THEWILL) – A Pro-democracy organisation, Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), has described the Honourable Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), as a gift from God to Nigeria, a symbol of emulation and a worthy ambassador to the teeming youths.
The group, in a statement signed on Tuesday, by its Convener and National President, Comrade Razaq Olokoba, said Fashola’s steps from the time he was Chief of Staff to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, when he was the Governor of Lagos State, through his stewardship as Governor himself after his boss, down to his present responsibility as the Minister of Works and Housing have been dogged with success, commendable performance and laudable achievements.
The statement said Nigerian youths are very lucky to be blessed by God with somebody like Babatunde Raji Fashola, who it said has laid down for them the correct direction to follow towards success in whatever endeavours they might wish to embark upon, saying, “in their case, they don’t need to look too far for a great role model”.
According to the renowned activist, the history of the current democratic dispensation would not be complete without generous mention of the 60 years old Fashola, who has dominated the country’s political landscape like a colossus which he is, congratulating Nigeria and her people on having such a bundle of talents as a divine gift from God.
“It is highly gratifying to also note that the man, Fashola, after rigorous performance spanning a couple of decades, still remains solid, more energetic and resourceful. And with his mentor and former boss, Tinubu as the incoming President in a few days’ time, the country is anxiously waiting to behold more spectacular performances that would assist the President in moving the country forward,” Olokoba enthused.
While giving kudos to the former Lagos State Governor for charting a clear direction for the younger generation and generations yet unborn, Olokoba expressed the need for the youths, who are the direct beneficiaries of Fashola’s legacy of better future, to organise a befitting reception for him as he is rounding off one of the impactful national assignment that further threw him up as a fantastic role model worthy of emulation.
Olokoba, who also reminded through the statement, how many times Fashola had passed various secret Integrity/Dignity Tests conducted by the CDG, expressed the conviction that any country blessed with the likes of Fashola should every minute be thankful to the Almighty God, saying, “to be honest, Babatunde Raji Fashola is an invaluable unique gift from God to Nigeria”
