December 25, (THEWILL) – Pele’s family celebrated Christmas morning with him on Sunday, at the hospital in Sao Paulo, where the renowned footballer has spent the past weeks.
The Brazilian legend is currently battling a cancer ailment that is deteriorating as well as kidney and cardiac issues. Since arriving at the Sao Paulo hospital in late November, members of his immediate family have expressed optimism for his recovery.
Pele’s daughter, Kely Nascimento, shared a photo of the footballer’s wife, Marcia Aoki and other family members, gathering at the Albert Einstein Hospital, where he is receiving treatment shortly after midnight on Christmas Day, although Pele was not visible in the photo.
In the caption, Nascimento wrote: “Almost all of us. Merry Christmas. Gratitude, love, union, family. The essence of Christmas. We thank you all for all the love and light you send us.”
The hospital reported on Wednesday, that Pele’s colon cancer was not getting better and that he required “more extensive care to treat kidney and heart failure.”
