January 18, (THEWILL) – In a replay of their original tie, Liverpool secured their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
That first match was marred by a power outage that briefly interrupted the flow of the game and caused the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to be unavailable temporarily. Also, a late Wolves goal was ruled out in that game.
In Tuesday’s replay, the game-winning goal came early on in the match, with Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott, scoring a stunning long-range effort that would prove to be the difference in the match. The home side had another goal disallowed shortly after, as Fabio Carvalho was deemed offside.

Despite Wolves pushing forward and committing more players in search of a goal in the second half, Liverpool’s defence held strong, with Elliott’s goal standing as the decisive one. Liverpool will now face Brighton and Hove Albion in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
