February 17, (THEWILL) – The Football Association (FA) of England has charged Arsenal and Manchester City for allegedly surrounding referee Anthony Taylor, during their high-profile English Premier League match on Wednesday.

The intense encounter saw defending champions City claim a 3-1 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, subsequently replacing them at the top of the table. Tensions were evidently high between the top two contenders vying for the EPL title, leading to players from both clubs confronting Taylor in separate incidents.

In response to the incidents, the FA released a statement on Friday, accusing both clubs of failing to control their players’ behaviour. The statement reads: “Both clubs have been charged after their players surrounded the match official at different times during the Premier League fixture on Wednesday, 15 February.

“It’s alleged both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion, with Arsenal’s players surrounding the match official during the 56th minute, and Manchester City’s doing so during the 42nd and 64th minutes.”

Arsenal and Manchester City have until Tuesday, 21 February to provide their respective responses to the charges.
