November 17, (THEWILL) – Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 128th international goal, as Portugal stayed perfect in their Euro 2024 qualification campaign with a 2-0 victory over Liechtenstein.
The Portuguese team struggled to break down a stubborn Liechtenstein defence in the first half, with goalkeeper, Benjamin Buchel, keeping them at bay. However, Ronaldo finally got the breakthrough just a minute into the second half, stroking home with his left foot after hitting the post seconds earlier.
Manchester City full-back, Joao Cancelo, then added a second goal ten minutes later with a beautifully curled strike from the edge of the box.

Portugal, who had already secured qualification to next year’s European Championships in Germany before last night’s match, have now won all nine of their qualification games in Group J.
The victory sees Ronaldo reach 128 goals for his country, further cementing his status as the all-time top scorer in men’s international football.
