March 28, (THEWILL) – The Czech Republic’s unbeaten run in Euro 2024 qualifying continued as they secured a point in a goalless draw against Moldova, on Monday.
Despite dominating possession, the Czechs struggled to create clear-cut chances against a resolute Moldovan defence, with West Ham midfielder, Tomas Soucek, missing a gilt-edged opportunity just before the break.
Tomas Cvancara, who scored in their previous win over Poland, also went close in the second half but was denied by the Moldovan keeper. The result leaves the Czech Republic on top of Group E with four points from two games, one point ahead of Poland, who beat Albania 1-0.
Despite the setback, the Czechs will be encouraged by their unbeaten start to the campaign and will look to maintain their position at the top of the group when they host Albania in their next game, which will be in the next set of national team matches for the international break.
Meanwhile, Moldova will take confidence from their solid defensive display as they prepare to face Poland during that next international break.
