Eriksen Set To Exit Brentford After Helping To Keep Them In EPL

June 14, (THEWILL) – Christian Eriksen is poised to depart Brentford after his six-month contract with the Bees expires in June.

After mutually agreeing to leave previous club Inter Milan as he was unable to play in Serie A with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) he needed for his heart problems, the Denmark international signed for Brentford on the final day of the January transfer window.

Eriksen rejoined with ex-Denmark junior coach Thomas Frank in west London, where he was instrumental in keeping Brentford out of the relegation zone. With 46 points, the Bees ended in 13th position, ahead of fellow promoted clubs Watford and Norwich combined.

Brentford remained confident that Eriksen would commit to the club in the long run with the 29-year-old not expected to seek anything close to Inter’s six-figure weekly salary.

Unfortunately, it is becoming clearer that the Bees will not be able to keep Eriksen. Spurs have been optimistic of reaching a deal to re-sign the playmaker in recent months, and he is presently contemplating bids from Manchester United as well.
