January 30, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday four fixtures registered five home wins and three draws across different venues.
A total of 11 goals were scored in the eight encounters. Enyimba and Lobi Stars recorded the highest scorelines, with both teams securing 3-0 wins over Kwara United and Bayelsa United respectively.
Enyimba’s victory over Kwara United saw the team bounce back from last week’s loss to Plateau United. Emeka Obioma scored a brace for Lobi Stars, with Adebambo also adding a debut goal to secure their third consecutive win of the season. Meanwhile, Kwara United remains the only club yet to score a goal in the abridged 2023 season.
In Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote led Shooting Stars to their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over El Kanemi. Samuel Ioruwese scored the winning goal in the 80th minute to move the Oluyole Warriors to fifth place in Group A.
Plateau United’s winning streak came to an end with a 1-0 loss to Akwa United. James Ajako scored the lone goal in the 79th minute to secure a victory for the Promise Keepers. In a closely contested match, a last-minute strike from Yusuf Taiye saved Gombe United from a defeat against Wikki Tourists.
Draws were recorded in Kaduna and Bauchi, with Niger Tornadoes held by Rangers and Doma picking up a crucial point against Wikki Tourists.
Overall, it was a successful day for some teams, with Enyimba, Lobi Stars and Sunshine Stars securing wins, while others such as Plateau United, Kwara United, and Abia Warriors suffered setbacks.
