Enyimba Beat Akwa United 3-2 In Five-Goal NPFL Tie

October 15, (THEWILL) – Defending champions Enyimba FC edged Akwa United 3-2 in a pulsating Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter on Sunday.

The People’s Elephant began strongly, taking the lead in the 13th minute through Gabriel Innocent. Mbaoma Chijioke doubled their advantage just two minutes later, giving Finidi George’s charges a goal cushion to boost their confidence.

However, Akwa United pulled one back in the 45th minute through Kufre Ebong so that the teams went into the break with the visitors trailing with a half deficit. Enyimba continued to hold their single-goal lead just as Akwa pushed for a leveller after the restart.
