Enyimba Among Africa’s Top Football Clubs To Compete In New Super League

August 30, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Enyimba Football Club will be amongst the eight top-ranked clubs competing in the exciting new African Football League (AFL) designed to embody the best of African club football.

The AFL is a partnership between CAF and FIFA, with the inaugural edition featuring teams from across Africa’s Regional Blocks including Egyptian giants, Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

Enyimba, two-time CAF Champions League winners, will fly the flag for the Central-West Region along with TP Mazembe of the DRC. The North Region is represented by Wydad Casablanca and Espérance Tunis.

The draw for the first AFL season will be held in Cairo on September 2. The fixtures, structured home and away with knockouts, will kick off on October 20 in Tanzania. The finals to determine the winner of this historic inaugural edition will take place in early November.

The AFL is a precursor to a fully-fledged 24-team competition launching in the 2024/2025 calendar. Football fans worldwide can follow the exciting new African club competition via live streaming and social media.
