Enugu Assembly Approves N58.095bn Supplementary Budget

September 13, (THEWILL) – The Enugu State House of Assembly has approved the supplementary budget of N58,095,482,293, for capital and recurrent expenditure for the year ending December 31, 2023.

Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Uche Ugwu, while addressing the lawmakers, thanked them for making a symbolic decision through their various positive contributions.

Ugwu noted that with the approval of the 2023 supplementary budget, the House members had given the state government an opportunity to hit the ground running.

According to him, members of the Assembly through their various contributions, had touched the areas Enugu masses were yearning for, which included provision of water, maintenance of roads, among others.

Hon Ugwu, while reacting to the complaint by members during their contributions concerning the worrisome state of roads in their various constituencies, noted that the government is poised to address the challenges because Enugu state fund belonged to all of them.

“Some people have been clamouring that their roads are bad. The government is now poised to address the challenges. I envy the people of Enugu North senatorial zone, they had it good last eight years.

“All the same, we are still part of the state and the funds of Enugu state is meant for all of us. So I want to thank you.”

In his contribution, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Hon Ezenta Ezeani, while supporting the approval of the bill to authorise the issuance and appropriation of the supplementary budget, appealed to his colleagues to support the motion.
