Enrique Dismisses Rift With Want-Away PSG Forward Mbappe

April 02, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has thrown his support behind Kylian Mbappe, dismissing speculation of a rift with the French superstar. Mbappe’s future at the Parc des Princes has been shrouded in uncertainty since he informed the club of his desire to leave when his contract expires in the summer of 2024.

Despite Mbappe’s reduced playing time and visible frustration after being substituted in PSG’s recent 2-0 victory over Marseille, Enrique firmly stated his contentment with the 24-year-old’s conduct. The Spanish tactician attributed the rumours to false interpretations, emphasising Mbappe’s admirable behaviour throughout his tenure.

“I’m very happy with all my players, Kylian included, he’s always behaved admirably”, Enrique declared during Tuesday’s press conference ahead of the French Cup semi final clash against Rennes. The former Barcelona manager had previously suggested Mbappe could reconsider his decision to depart, revealing a desire for a successful conclusion to the campaign.

With PSG vying for an unprecedented treble of the Ligue 1 title, French Cup, and the UEFA Champions League, Enrique underscored the collective pursuit of glory. “We’re all in the same boat, sailing and seeking success,” he affirmed, expressing his wish for a triumphant end to the season for the entire squad, including Mbappe.

As PSG prepare for a crucial stretch, including the French Cup semi-final on Wednesday and the UCL quarter-final against Barcelona next week, Enrique’s unwavering support for Mbappe could play a pivotal role in maintaining squad harmony amidst the ongoing speculation.
