February 09, (THEWILL) – The Football Association (FA) has charged Manchester United and Crystal Palace in connection with an incident that resulted in the dismissal of Casemiro during their recent Premier League match.
The Brazilian midfielder was sent off after grabbing Will Hughes by the neck during a heated scuffle between players from both clubs.
In a statement released by the Premier League, the FA said: “Manchester United FC and Crystal Palace FC have been charged following a mass confrontation between their players in the 67th minute of the Premier League fixture on Saturday 4 February 2023.
“It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour. It’s also alleged that Manchester United FC failed to ensure its players refrained from violent behaviour. Manchester United FC and Crystal Palace FC have until Monday 13 February 2023 to respond.”
Casemiro, who has already served the first of his three-game suspension, will miss Manchester United’s upcoming fixtures against Leeds United and Leicester City. The outcome of the FA’s investigation and potential penalties for the clubs could have significant implications for the EPL title race.
