September 21, (THEWILL) – Due to the brief closure of the American consulate in the United Kingdom, Lisandro Martinez and Cristian Romero, were unable to obtain their visas in time to fly to the USA for Argentina’s friendlies.
Martinez joined Manchester United this summer and Romero has been a member of the Spurs team since last year and both players are now experiencing difficulties, as a result of living in England prior to their countries’ friendlies with Honduras and Jamaica in the United States.
The US Embassy in London has been closed due to nationwide activities around the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, and this has prevented the defenders from obtaining their necessary visas in time to honour the invitation to international duty.

Ahead of Argentina’s game on Saturday, the fate of the duo is unclear. The same uncertainty surrounds Emiliano Martinez, Alexis Mac Allister, and Julian Alvarez, the four Premier League players in the squad.
Even though the matches are friendlies, the games are still of utmost significance because they are the final matches before departing for Qatar for the World Cup in November.
