England Coach Hills Still Wary Of Turkey

England coach Brent Hills says his team will be wary of an improved Turkey in Adana on Thursday as they aim to maintain a 100% start to their 2015 World Cup qualifying campaign.

England’s perfect record under temporary boss Hills includes an 8-0 victory over Turkey last month.

“In my experience, teams that get beaten heavily don’t get beaten heavily twice,” Hills said.

“I’d expect it to be much tougher, but it’s a game we’ll be looking to win.”

Either side of the win over Turkey in Portsmouth, England thrashed Belarus 6-0 and beat Wales 2-0 at Millwall on Saturday to top World Cup Qualifying Group Six.

Midfielder Jill Scott, who has come on as a substitute in all three games, told FATV: “It’s really important we don’t focus on the last result; we definitely can’t get complacent.

“They know what we’ve got now, so I’m sure they’ll have a different plan.

“To us it’s just like a brand new game, but I’m very confident and I’m sure the girls are, that if we play the way we know we can we’ll get the three points and go into Christmas on top of the group.”

Hills has is interested in taking the job on a full-time basis, and will find out if he has been successful after Thursday’s game.

The Football Association had said it would announce a successor to former head coach Hope Powell after the first two World Cup qualifiers, but then decided to delay that until after the fourth game.

Hills was an assistant coach under Powell during a dreadful Euro 2013 campaign, where England crashed out at the group stage without winning a game.
