SAN FRANCISCO, August 14, (THEWILL) – A Canadian-based social enterprise, 1Million Teacher Inc. has appointed the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, as its chairman advisory board in Nigeria.

The organisation which provides access to high quality teacher education to underserved communities around the world also appointed Sanusi as a board member for its parent enterprise, 1 Million Teachers Canada.

The Guardian reports that the chief executive officer of 1Million Teachers, Hakeem Subair, while announcing the new appointment said the organisation and its staff are very excited about the development.

He also said that by accepting the role, Sanusi has further deepened his commitment to the fight for a just society, and we are thrilled to have him on board.

“It is a morale booster for the team. 1 Million Teachers regularly seeks strong voices, to help us amplify our advocacy for access to equitable and inclusive education for all – especially women and girls, and to provide counsel to our team,” Subair said.

“It is therefore with great pleasure that we welcome His Highness, Muhammad Sanusi II, Emir of Kano, as chairman, advisory board of 1 Million Teachers.”

Reacting to his new appointment, the emir said: “I look forward to working with 1Million Teachers in its laudable efforts at providing access to high quality teacher education to underserved communities around the world, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa.

“I am indeed excited about the project and its future impact on the education sector in Nigeria,” Sanusi added.
