Eleven Abducted Passengers Of Abuja-Kaduna Train Regain Freedom

June 12, (THEWILL) – Eleven of the abducted passengers of the attacked Abuja-Kaduna train, on Saturday regained their freedom after 75 days in captivity.

THEWILL reported that suspected terrorists had on March 28, detonated Improvised Explosive (IED) in the train and forced it to derail a few minutes into the trip in Kaduna.

The attack which occurred on March 28, at Dutse forest in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, left eight people killed and 30 others injured, while scores of passengers went missing.

Confirming the release of the eleven Abducted Victims, Mallam Tukur Mamu, Spokesman of Kaduna based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, said the hostages were released on Saturday afternoon at a forest, and have been flown to Abuja.

Mamu said the 11 victims were freed on health grounds in order to enable them undergo urgent medical treatment.

He further explained that the male victims were released on health grounds as part of the request made by the negotiating team, while the women who are among the vulnerable ones are part of the agreement reached with the abductors.

Among those who regained their freedom are six females and five males who have now been flown to the nation’s capital, Abuja

Those released, Mamu said include: Jessy John, Amina Ba’aba Mohammed (Gamba), Rashida Yusuf Busari and Hannah Ajewole.

Others are: Najib Mohammed Daiharu, Gaius Gambo, Hassan Aliyu, Peace A. Boy and Danjuma Sa’idu.
