December 29, (THEWILL) – Carlos Queiroz, Egypt’s Portuguese coach, has unveiled the final roster of players who will compete in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021, which begins January 9th in Cameroon.
The Pharaohs will marshall a 25-man squad, captained by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
After a long layoff due to a knee injury, Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” has been called back to the national side. Egypt has the record for most AFCON titles with seven, the most recent of which came in the 2010 edition in Angola.
The Pharaohs are grouped with Nigeria, Sudan, and Guinea Bissau in Group D. On January 11, the Pharaohs will begin their campaign against Nigeria, which is expected to be the highlight of the group pairings.
