BEVERLY HILLS, June 13 (THEWILL) – A media aide to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Prince Victor Efeizomor has appealed to practicing journalists in the state to support the present administration in realizing the vision of providing prosperity for all Deltans.
Prince Efeizomor implored journalists to avoid all acts of blackmail against the government, and always uphold the ethics of the profession by engaging in investigative, fair, balance and objective reporting of activities in the state.
He was speaking at a send-forth party organized for him by the Asaba Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State council following his recent appointment as Press Secretary (Print) to the state governor.
Prince Efeizomor who was the state correspondent of Thisday newspaper until the recent appointment, solicited the maximum support and cooperation of media practitioners in the state for him to succeed in his new but challenging office.
The new Press Secretary who was also a former chairman of the Asaba Correspondents’Chapel described the media as his immediate constituency, and pledged to build a mutually benefiting relationship between the state government and practicing journalists.
Earlier, chairman of the chapel, Mr. Paul Osuyi congratulated the Press Secretary on his appointment and expressed confidence that he will not disappoint in view of his wealth of experience in the field of journalism.
Mr. Osuyi, on behalf of other members of the chapel told the Press Secretary to make issue of welfare of journalists paramount in his agenda to better the lot of media practitioners, urging him never to be too far from his colleagues in the profession.
He also pledged the cooperation and support of members of the chapel to the Press Secretary for him to succeed but advised against any attempt to muzzle the press.
