March 23, (THEWILL) – The Executive Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Clement Omenkannaya Odah, has assured the people of Amoffia-Nduloumusoke, that no stone would be left unturned to fish out the perpetrators behind the recent killings in the community.
Odah, who made the vow when he paid a condolence visit to the bereaved families of late Chief James Onwe and late Uwa Abraham, who were murdered by yet-to-be identified gunmen.
The Council Chairman, who expressed sadness over the killings, urged the vigilante groups in the area to rise to their responsibility, even as he assured his effort to ensure that the dead get justice.
He reiterated that the Council was going to give late Sunday Idenyi a befitting burial and also promised to facilitate the death benefits of late Abraham Uwa, to cushion the effects of the death on his wife and children.
“I was where the Governor asked us to stay when I heard that my friend, Chief Sunday Idenyi James Onwe, Ochinanwata, the civilian DPO is no more. At first, I never believed it, even to this point, it is still difficult to believe what has happened. We got to a point where we have to accept the reality that Sunday is no longer alive. Up till now, it is still difficult for me to accept.
“He was very important to me and the Ngbojiogu clan. We feel pain that we are compelled to accept that he is no longer alive. Nobody is happy at all. In the entire Ngbo, I do not think there is anybody like Sunday. But we are confronted with reality. I have to comfort myself. I sympathise with you, if at all he is dead.
“We are saying sorry. May God comfort you. Always believe that we shall always stand by you. If the last thing is for us to give him a befitting burial from the local government area, we shall do that. We will make sure we give Sunday and Abraham justice. We will get to the bottom of it. I shall also ensure that everything necessary to be done to facilitate the death benefits of Abraham Uwa at the Council is done to cushion the effects of his death”, he promised.
The Council boss also used the opportunity to sympathise with the family of the late traditional ruler of Amoffia-Ngbo, HRH Daniel Aguta. Odah described the late monarch as a father, who was always upright in his dealings.
It would be recalled that a couple of weeks ago, gunmen attacked Amoffia-Ngbo, killing two persons, the former Coordinator of Ngbo East Development Centre, Hon. Sunday Idenyi James Onwe and a civil servant, Mr Abraham Uwa.
