February 24, (THEWILL) – The executive chairman of Onicha local government area in Ebonyi state, Engr Igboke Felix Ogbonna has expressed deep worry over fresh hostility between the two warring communities of Abomege and Ishinkwo.
Igboke,who was visibly angry over the development during a security meeting held at the council headquarters, noted that government had expended enough effort and energy towards ensuring a lasting peace in the area.
According to a release by the Senior Special Assistant on media, the Ebubeagu Security Network were charged to synergize with vigilante and the conventional security agents to fish out perpetrators of crimes in the area.
“The meeting frowned at the renewed hostility between Abomege and Ishinkwo autonomous communities despite government’s efforts towards achieving a lasting peace in the area.
“The members of the council’s Ebubeagu security network were enjoined to work in synergy with the local vigilantes,the conventional security agents and various community stakeholders for optimal result and performance.
“They were told in clear terms never to torture suspects but should help the police to fish out criminal elements in their respective domains.
“The council chairman Engr Igboke Felix Ogbonna specifically commended governor David Nweze Umahi for his proven strength and wisdom in tackling the security situation in the state. He called on all Nigerians to support the governor’s presidential aspiration for a better Nigeria.
“That the Ebubeagu security network was established by the governor and domesticated in the council to protect the lives and properties of all and sundry and not for intimidation of political opponents as being speculated in some quarters,” the release stated.
