February 18, (THEWILL) – Manchester United edged past Luton Town 2-1 in a thrilling English Premier League encounter at Kenilworth Road on Sunday. A blistering start saw United race into a two-goal lead inside 10 minutes courtesy of a Rasmus Hojlund brace. However, the home side regrouped and pulled one back through Carlton Morris to make it 2-1 at the break.

The second half saw Luton continue to pressure United, creating several chances to level the match. However, resilient defending and missed opportunities for the hosts ensured United held on for all three points, moving them to within five points of the UEFA Champions League places.

Hojlund’s opener, after just 37 seconds, was United’s fastest-ever EPL away goal. At 21 years, he also became the youngest player to score in six consecutive EPL games for United. Luke Shaw limped off injured late in the first half to add to Erik ten Hag’s injury worries.

After being dominated for much of the game, Ten Hag will be relieved to come away with the win. The result makes it five straight-away victories for United, a feat they last achieved in October 2020. They now turn their attention to closing the gap on the top four.
