October 08, (THEWILL) – At the MAPEI Stadium on Saturday, Inter Milan’s Edin Dzeko’s record of Serie A goals hit 100 as Inter defeated Sassuolo 2-1.
His second goal of the year in the 44th minute meant the 36-year-old became the third-oldest player to achieve a century in the Italian top division.
The hosts levelled the score with Davide Frattesi’s shot in the 60th minute, but Dzeko scored his 101st league goal 15 minutes from time by heading in a cross from Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
After two losses, Simone Inzaghi’s team has now won back-to-back games in Serie A, snapping a three-game losing streak in away matches.
Sassuolo will next play Atalanta in Bergamo in seven days, while Inter’s next match is their UEFA Champions League second leg against Barcelona on Wednesday.
