July 20, (THEWILL) – Paulo Dybala has been announced as a free agent by Roma, after leaving Juventus at the end of his seven-year stint in Turin when his contract with the Bianconeri expired in June.
Inter had been expected to sign Dybala, and a deal to bring him to San Siro was almost complete. However, the Nerazzurri were unable to complete the transfer because Alexis Sanchez’s contract could not be terminated.
This opened the door for Serie A rivals Roma to recruit the forward, who was also sought after by Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli. The Giallorossi announced the signing of Dybala on Wednesday, as the 28-year-old joins Nemanja Matic, Mile Svilar, and Zeki Celik as the Giallorossi’s fourth summer signings.
During their preseason friendly against Sporting in Portugal, Dybala was spotted wearing a top with the Roma logo; he has now been revealed as their newest addition.
Mourinho’s rebuilding process as the Italian capital continues with the Portuguese manager desirous to make the Serie A side capable to challenge the two Milan clubs, AC and Inter, and a recalibrated Juventus for the title in the 2022/2023 season, when top flight football resumes. He will be counting on their European success and forging ahead on that momentum.
