July 25, (THEWILL) – A former Big Brother Naija housemate, Uriel Oputa, has taken to social media to advise celebrities on how best to handle fame.
According to her, celebrities should not allow fame to get into their heads and put pressure on them.
Uriel noted that fame has its negative effect, especially when the person feels he or she is not living up to expectations.
She advised those who feel they are not using their platforms well to seek help and avoid social media.
She said, “They shouldn’t be pressured by the desire to match up to people’s expectations but should work at their own pace and evaluate themselves as they try to start all over again.
“People don’t know that fame can be a dark place. Especially if you feel you are not living to match others expectations.
“Maybe endorsement deals are not coming again. You feel you have not used the platform well. It is deep, the best thing to do is find yourself, don’t live by people’s expectations.
“Take time away from social media. If you have a close friend or family, stay with them. There is always a way out and there is always light. You can rebuild yourself. It is okay to start over.”
