Donnarumma Denies Monaco As Ligue 1 Leaders PSG Scrape Draw

March 02, (THEWILL) – AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain played out a goalless draw on Friday night in a tense Ligue 1 clash. The result means Monaco have now gone five home games without a win, while league leaders PSG extend their unbeaten run across all competitions to 20 matches.

The first half saw Monaco dominate chances, with strikers Folarin Balogun and Wissam Ben Yedder both denied by superb saves from PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Takumi Minamino and Ben Yedder continued to test Donnarumma, but the Italian shot-stopper was equal to everything Monaco threw at him.

After the break, Monaco appealed unsuccessfully for a penalty, while PSG manager Luis Enrique reacted by making three quick substitutions to change the flow of the game. PSG slowly grew into the game, with Bradley Barcola and Randal Kolo Muani both going close to breaking the deadlock.

In the closing stages, both teams pushed desperately for a winner but wayward finishing and sloppy play meant the game ended scoreless. PSG remain comfortably on top of Ligue 1 on 55 points, while Monaco miss the chance to jump to second place above Stade Brestois on 42 points.

Ultimately, this was a case of missed opportunities for the home side, as Donnarumma’s inspired performance earned a hard-fought point for the league leaders.
