Dollar Scarcity: Abuja BDC Operators Shut Down Business

February 01, (THEWILL) – Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in Abuja have announced an indefinite shutdown of business over scarcity of US dollars.

Abdulahi Dauran, Chairman of the Abuja chapter of the Association of BDC, said online banking transactions and cryptocurrency were behind the scarcity of dollars, adding that the closure of business takes effect from Thursday, February 1.

THEWILL reports that the naira fell to an all-time low of N1,520 per dollar on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Senate has summoned the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Yemi Cardoso, over the worsening naira/dollar exchange rate.
