February 12, (THEWILL) – Kwara United has announced former Wikki Tourists coach, Kabir Dogo, as their new Technical Adviser.
The appointment comes after Abdulazeez Mohammed, resigned from his position just moments after the club’s 2-0 loss to Nasarawa United in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League. The club’s chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, said that it was important to fill the coaching vacancy to avoid any negative impact on the team.
THEWILL recalls that Mohammed stepped down as an act of accepting full responsibility for the club’s poor performance this season. Kwara United had only won only one of their seven matches, drawing against two teams and losing the remaining four.
In his resignation, Mohammed acknowledged the potential for the team to perform well but said that things were not going in the right direction. Titiloye stated that since the club had accepted Mohammed’s resignation, they had no choice but to engage another coach to avoid a vacuum. Dogo had also recently resigned from his position at Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.
Mohammed was engaged on an interim basis by Kwara United last season and was later made the Technical Adviser after the 2021/2022 season. He had previously worked with Katsina United, securing their place in the NPFL.
