December 10, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has charged the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) to develop practical and implementable solutions toward tackling challenges confronting the nation.

The President gave the charge on Saturday, at the graduation of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 45 of the institute.

He commended NIPSS for the numerous policies developed in the past, insisting that it remained a dependable partner to the government.

”The renewed hope agenda of this government is aimed at providing dividends of democracy to Nigerians; this is why we see NIPSS as a dependable partner. So, we expect this institute to continually develop practical solutions that will solve emerging challenges confronting our nation.

”We are determined to improve in the areas of technology, industrialisation, and agriculture, among others, to reduce the poverty level in our nation.

”We are ready to support this institute to succeed in its mandate and I want to assure you that any recommendation from NIPSS will be implemented with serious urgency,” the President said.

Tinubu, who congratulated the graduands, charged them to put the knowledge and bond developed in the last nine months to promote social cohesion and peaceful coexistence in the country.

In a paper titled: ”Security Challenges and Security Governance in Nigeria”, Prof. Etannibi Alemika called for value re-orientation as a solution to current security challenges in the nation.

Alemika, a retired professor of criminology and guest lecturer at the event, called on the Federal Government to decentralise the policing system in the country.

This, he said, would create room for more participation in the fight against insecurity in the nation.

Earlier, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, the Director General of NIPSS, said that the SEC 45 consisted of 97 participants drawn from the military, the police, para-military, government agencies and the private sector.

He explained that the graduands were thoroughly bred on various topics by scholars drawn from within and outside the institute.
