BEVERLY HILLS, November 25, (THEWILL) – An alleged kidnap scandal has landed an aide of the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon Leo Ogor, in police custody, THEWILL has learnt.

Reliable sources said that the aide was fingered and subsequently arrested for allegedly having a hand in the botched kidnap.

THEWILL learnt that the aide whom Ogor recently bought a car for was fingered in the alleged kidnap of Ogor’s step-mother who was abducted from her home in Idheze, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta state.

“Madam Martha Ogor Okuweh was kidnapped at her home at Idheze community, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State by a gang of stern looking armed men led by the federal lawmaker’s aide, identified as Edafe Oriomaro, ” local sources told THEWILL.

According to the sources, the captors of Ogor’s step-mother had demanded N50million ransom to let her go but as the ransom was being bargained, it was discovered that the lawmaker’s aide was actually the alleged mastermind.

“As the ransom was being bargained, the deputy majority leader had already involved the services of the President of the Isoko National Youths Movement, simply called Victor Egbo (aka Last Mugu), and men of the Nigeria Police in Asaba who put all machineries in place to track down the kidnappers and arrested the aide and two others.”

“It was discovered that while Last Mugu and the security operatives from Delta State capital were tracking the kidnappers’ mobile lines which they were using for the negotiation, one of the lines was traced to Leo Ogor’s aide without his knowledge.”

“At this junction, the aide was invited by his boss to his country home in Ozoro and the mobile line was tried and immediately it rang.”

“He was beaten up mercilessly right inside Ogor’s residence where he also made some confessional statements.

“Oga was so disappointed when he saw that it was Mr. Edafe Oriomaro, the youth governor of Irri community, his aide that was involved in the kidnap of his mother.”

“Oga was so bitter, because this was an aide he recently empowered with a car and every month he pays him the sum of N30, 000 as salary and other entitlements but he still went ahead to kidnap Oga’s mother.”

“Though, Oga warned all his aides including us his family relations seriously that under no circumstance must the story go out, especially for the consumption of the media because he doesn’t want it discussed in the public domain. As we talk, try and call any of his aides about this issue and you will see how they will react to you,” a relation of Ogor who didn’t want his name in print said.

Impeccable sources told THEWILL that the kidnappers were asking for N50million but later reduced the ransom to N30million before they were apprehended by the anti-kidnap squad from the police headquarters, Asaba.

Local sources said Ogor’s step-mother was immediately taken away from the locality after the arrest of the suspects.

It would be recalled that the same set of suspected kidnappers had attempted to seize Ogor’s legal aide, one Famous Izobo, sometime ago in which one of the kidnappers was shot dead at the Ozoro Police Station.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officers, DSP Celestina Kalu, couldn’t be reached when filing this report but police sources confirmed the story, saying about two suspects arrested over the incident are in detention at the state police headquarters.
