August 03, (THEWILL) – Barcelona French winger, Ousmane Dembele, is reportedly on the brink of a move to Paris Saint-Germain, as sources monitored by THEWILL indicate that the transfer is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
The unexpected development came to light when it became clear that Dembele had agreed to personal terms for a potential return to France, although there had been little prior speculation about his departure from Barcelona this summer. Barca’s head coach Xavi and new club captain, Sergi Roberto, were both left disappointed and surprised over Dembele’s decision to leave the club.
PSG are currently closing in on signing the winger after triggering a €50m (£43m) release clause in his Barcelona contract. The influx of funds from this transfer will enable the Spanish champions to intensify their pursuit of Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo, as Xavi was clear in his need to strengthen the right-back position.
Les Parisiens are eager to finalise Dembele’s move by the end of the week, and they are also actively seeking to bring in Benfica forward, Goncalo Ramos, within the same timeframe. Both head coach Luis Enrique and Sporting Advisor, Luis Campos, have shown keen interest in adding Ramos to their squad, while also retaining an interest in his Portugal teammate, Joao Felix.
Felix, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea and has since returned to Atletico Madrid, is expected to be acquired for a fee in the region of €80m (£69m). However, PSG’s negotiations with Atletico Madrid are currently not at an advanced stage, but there remains a possibility for the deal to be closed promptly.
