September 02, (THEWILL) – Manchester United have completed the deadline-day signing of midfielder from Serie A side Fiorentina on a season-long loan. Sofyan Amrabat
The deal includes an option for United to make the move permanent next summer for £17.1 million. The 26-year-old Morocco international had been a top target for the Red Devils throughout the summer transfer window. After months of negotiations, United were finally able to agree a fee with Fiorentina and strike a deal on the last day before the window closed.

Amrabat is seen as an important addition to United’s midfield, providing steel and energy in the centre of the park. Manager Erik ten Hag pushed hard to capture the former Feyenoord man as he looks to overhaul his squad following a poor start to the season.

“Sofyan is a tenacious midfielder who will bring a real presence to our team,” said United Football Director, John Murtough. “His work rate and ability to break up opposition attacks will give us a new dimension.”

The arrival of Amrabat caps off a productive summer of transfers for United. As well as the Moroccan, the Manchester club have also recruited the likes of Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount and Sergio Reguilon as Ten Hag stamps his authority on the playing squad he inherited.
