February 12, (THEWILL) – The mysterious fire out break at about 5:00 pm was said to have consumed a morgue belonging to St. Francis Xavier Parish Agagbe in Gwer West local government area of Benue State.
An eye witness in a telephone chat said, all the corpses deposited in the mortuary were burnt beyond recognition.
Our source said, relatives of the corpses were seen running helter skelter in attempts to put off the fire but to no avail.
He added that the cause of the mysterious inferno and the number of the bodies in the morgue were yet to be ascertained as at the time he was leaving the scene of the incident at about 6:30pm.
The chairman of the Gwer West local government council could not be reached for her comment just like the Benue state Fire service.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police, Sewuese Anene could not be reached at the time of filing this report.
