July 30, (THEWILL) – Madison de Rozario of Australia has added gold to her title at the Tokyo Paralympics last year by winning the T53/54 marathon at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
De Rozario won gold at the competition on the Gold Coast in 2018, and she was also the defending Commonwealth champion.
She raced ahead of 20-year-old Englishwoman Eden Rainbow-Cooper by a comfortable margin in a Games record time of 1 hour and 56 minutes (1:59:45s).
As there were only four participants in the race, there was no bronze medal given out. Christie Dawes, a countrywoman of De Rozario, came in fourth place with a time that was a season-best 2:07:02.
