September 15, (THEWILL) – Tobiloba Amusan and Ese Brume, who both won gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, have been hailed as the nation’s athletes of the future by Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, even as he canvassed for more private companies’ support for athletes.

The Minister made this declaration on Thursday, in Lagos at the presentation of the sprint stars as Brand Ambassadors of Premium Trust Bank. Last month, at the World Athletics Championship in Oregon, USA, Amusan set a new world record in the women’s 100-meter hurdles.

For her part, Brume won a bronze medal at the most recent Olympic Games in Tokyo, before graduating to gold at the World Indoor Championships and the Commonwealth Games. Therefore, Dare used the occasion to solicit the support of corporate organisations and individuals to see that they, and other athletes, can develop further.

While thanking the athletes for making the nation proud with their exploits, the Minister said, “The corporate world should invest in the athletes and they won’t regret it. These athletes never relented after getting the desired support as they have been thriving in their performances.”

Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Trust Bank, stated that the bank’s primary objective was to assist growth, hence the motto “Together for Growth”. He said the bank’s support “should serve as motivation to other athletes who dare to be different and win. We hope the partnership brings great impact to the athletes, the sports industry, and the country.”
