September 02, (THEWILL) – Arnaut Danjuma’s second-half goal earned Everton a 2-2 draw away at Sheffield United on Saturday, as both sides picked up their first point of the new English Premier League season.
The hosts had overturned Abdoulaye Doucoure’s early opener to lead 2-1 at the break, thanks to Cameron Archer’s maiden Blades goal and a Jordan Pickford own goal.
However, summer signing, Danjuma, who arrived from Villarreal, levelled matters after the interval to ensure the points were shared at Bramall Lane. The tie could have ended differently had Pickford not later made a remarkable triple save to deny Oli McBurnie a late winner for Sheffield United.
The result means both teams remain winless after four games, but they will be content to get off the mark after faltering starts to the campaign, with three previous losses from their first four encounters in the EPL.
After the international break, Everton will welcome Arsenal to Goodison Park on Saturday, September 16, in what will be a tougher match than against Sheffield while Sheffield travel to north London to take on Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur in the same day.
