September 03, (THEWILL) – The 650,000bpd Dangote Oil Refinery has presented the first sample of its petrol product to Nigerians.
President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, made the presentation on Tuesday, at the refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
THEWILL earlier reported that the Dangote Refinery started processing petrol on Monday.
Speaking with newsmen on Tuesday, Dangote said petrol from the refinery will hit the filling stations in the next 48 hours as modalities with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited are formalised.
“Our PMS (Premium Motor Spirit) can be in filling stations within the next 48 hours depending on NNPC. It is an arrangement which is designed and approved by the Federal Executive Council, led by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“As soon as it is finalised, which he (Tinubu) is pushing, once we finish with NNPC, it can be today, it can be tomorrow, we are ready to roll into the market.
“I would like to commend the people of Nigeria and the government of President Bola Tinubu for providing us with the platform for growth, development, and prosperity. I also want to thank him personally for introducing the idea of exchanging crude for Naira. This initiative will contribute to the stability of the Naira.
“With this refinery in operation, we will have a clear picture of Nigeria’s true consumption. We will be able to track every truck and shipload”, he said, adding that the refinery would meet the demands not only of Nigerians but also of sub-Saharan Africa.
