Crystal Palace Snatch Late Draw Against Brentford

August 26, (THEWILL) – A stunning goal from Kevin Schade put Brentford ahead early but Joachim Andersen’s late equaliser earned Crystal Palace a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.

The home side started brightly and deservedly went ahead through Schade’s curling 18th-minute strike. Despite Brentford’s dominance, Andersen popped up in the 76th minute to score Palace’s leveller after a neat interplay with Jordan Ayew.

Brentford looked set for a third straight English Premier League win after Schade’s moment of brilliance. The summer signing from Freiburg cut inside and fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner past the outstretched Sam Johnstone.

Mathias Jensen and Yoane Wissa went close to adding a second for the Bees before the break but Palace hung on. The visitors’ best chances fell to Eberechi Eze but the midfielder was denied a penalty despite appearing to be fouled in the box, as happened the last time against Arsenal.

In the end, Palace’s persistence paid off. Andersen exchanged passes with Ayew before sliding the ball home to earn Roy Hodgson’s side a share of the spoils. Both sides are in action in the EFL Cup next on Tuesday as Brentford are away to Newport and Palace travel to Plymouth.
