February 25, (THEWILL) – Liverpool’s defensive issues continued to plague Jurgen Klopp’s side as they were held to a goalless draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

Although the Reds had a positive start to the game, they struggled to find the back of the net and were fortunate not to concede due to defensive errors. Palace, on the other hand, missed a number of opportunities to secure a win and were left to rue their missed chances in the first half.

Mohamed Salah threatened to open the scoring for Liverpool early on with a low drive, but the Reds failed to build on that momentum. Jean-Philippe Mateta nearly capitalised on a poor backpass from Trent Alexander-Arnold, but Alisson’s quick reflexes prevented the Frenchman from scoring.

Despite a late surge from Liverpool in the second half, neither team was able to break the deadlock, leaving both sides with a single point when referee Darren England blew the final whistle.

The draw is Palace’s fourth consecutive home draw, and they continue to search for their first win of 2023. They currently sit in 12th place and will travel to Aston Villa for their next game. Liverpool’s recent struggles at the back aside, the Reds remain unbeaten in their last three league games and sit in seventh place, six points behind Tottenham Hotspur in fourth. They next play Wolverhampton Wanderers.
