June 16, (THEWILL) – The Premier League schedule has been released, and one of the exciting pairings of the first weekend is English Premier League winners Manchester City visiting West Ham in what may be Erling Haaland’s first appearance.
On Friday, August 5, Crystal Palace will be welcoming Arsenal for the very first game of the new season while Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and new recruit Darwin Nunez will travel to London to play newly promoted Fulham, the following day.
First up for new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is a match against Graham Potter and Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford. Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, the other two newly promoted sides, will play Aston Villa at home and Newcastle United away, respectively.
Chelsea will meet former boss Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on the second weekend of the season, while Liverpool will face Manchester United at Old Trafford on the third weekend of the season.
Aside from this set of opening fixtures, the major news is around changes to the holiday schedule of matches as there could be no games between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day due to the World Cup ending on December 18. The games will take place on December 26 and 31.
The Premier League season begins on Saturday, August 6, but, as in previous seasons, there will be a Friday night match to kick off the season on August 5 which will be Arsenal visiting Palace. On Sunday, May 28, 2023, the Premier League season will come to an end.
