Cross River Monarch Pledges To End Communal Crisis

December 17, (THEWILL) – The Paramount Ruler of Ikom Local Government Area in Cross River State, His Royal Majesty, Minen Takon Atangba, has pledged to end the communal crisis within his domain.

He also promised that priority would be given to the safety of lives and property and communal crisis in the upcoming planting season will be a thing of the past.

The monarch pledged after receiving his staff of office from Governor Bassey Edet Otu, alongside three others during the weekend.

Giving details of his plans to stem the rising level of communal crisis, he said “We will collaborate with local Government Authority and community stakeholders to avert these crises.

“We will brainstorm on a round table discussion, and at town hall meetings until an agreement is reached and find a way forward instead of taking to arms.

“We will do justice to parties involved, by falling back on land documents or history and argument surrounding the parcel of land from men of proven integrity. We have them in almost all the communities in my domain.

“I will collaborate with all the groups residing in my domain to ensure that peace reigns in the land. Most especially the strangers’ elements whom I know had peacefully co-existed with us in ikom LGA, for some decades now” he said.

His Royal Majesty HRM, Minen Takon Atangba is among the three Paramount Rulers in the state who received their certificate of recognition from the Cross River State Governor.

Others are HRM, Ophot Agbor Ebani, Paramount Ruler of Akamkpa as well as HRM, Utsu Felix Okudare, Paramount Ruler of Obudu LGA.
