Cross River Govt to Spend N276bn in 2022

October 29, (THEWILL) – The Cross River state governor, Ben Ayade, has presented his 2022 budget estimates to the State House of Assembly.

The budget is christened “Conjugated Agglutination” and will see the state spend N276 billion.

Out of this figure, N106 billion will be set aside for recurrent expenditure while N170 billion will go to capital expenses.

The governor said next year’s budget will focus on the completion of old projects, without adding new ones.

He added that the state intends to partner with the state legislature to create a monthly N30-50 billion sinking fund to address pensions and gratuities.

He also said a transportation master plan has been developed by his administration that covers the state’s three senatorial zones.

He said this plan covers land, air and sea transportation and also announced that all the factories are over 80 percent completed.

He called on Cross River people to embrace agriculture so as to feed the factories because of their huge need for raw materials.

Ayade also said the factories are expected to ensure the state does not continue to depend on federal government allocation.

The speaker, Eteng Jonas Williams, in his remarks said the House will ensure the quick passage of the budget.
