Critic Responds To Mr Macaroni’s Defamation Suit

February 18, (THEWILL) – Babatunde Qudus, an ardent follower of Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has responded to the defamation lawsuit filed by content creator, Adebowale Adedayo, aka Mr Macaroni, against him.

Mr Macaroni had instigated the lawsuit against Qudus, his critic, for alleging that he collected N7 million to support Peter Obi.

Last year, the comedian endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

But his endorsement had generated huge criticism from a lot of people.

In a Twitter post, Qudus had claimed the skit maker collected money to endorse Obi.

“Wow wow so Macaroni was given N7 million from diasporans supporters of Peter Obi just to make an official statement that he will vote Peter Obi.

“Gullible fools that wanted to burn Lagos during Endsars, can you see how Macaroni is cashing out. I dare Macaroni to deny that he never collected N7 million from diaspora supporters of Peter Obi to openly say so.”

Reacting to the allegation, the comedian had stated he singled out Babatunde and one Sadiq, among those criticising him due to false accusations and defamation.

He posted screenshots of the posts made by his critics and announced that he has commenced legal action against the APC supporter.

“We have sent Qudus his letter by email and hand. Qudus once asked for my lawyers address so he could pick the letter up himself. If you still want to do so, so as to confirm the authencity of the letter. It’s right on the letter head.”

Responding to the skit maker through Lukman Fagbemi, his lawyer, Babatunde dismissed the allegations.

Babatunde, in the letter dated February 17, argued that his comment was merely a social media banter, adding that it was taken out of context.

“In definite terms, our client denies all the allegations contained in your letter under reference and categorically states that they are untrue, unfounded, baseless and unsupported by any iota of proof.

“The contents of your letter to our client and the conclusion reached therein came to our client as a rude shock and it is surprising that your client can claim at this stage to have been defamed by our client when he’s fully aware that the alleged statements credited to our client are a mere exchange of vulgar abusive words popularly known as ‘banter’ in the social media space between our client and Mr Debo Adedayo, which ensued in their bid to support their individual preferred presidential candidates and political parties, namely and majorly the All Progressives Congress, Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party.”
