Crisis Brews In Cross River NAPPS As Stakeholders Demand President’s Resignation

January 24, (THEWILL) – A fresh crisis appears to be brewing in the Cross River State Chapter of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS).

This follows the demand by some stakeholders for the immediate resignation of the State President, Comrade Mike Egre, and the constitution of a transition committee that will help the association conduct a free and fair election.

The stakeholders stated that the tenure of the incumbent Chairman, who no longer has the confidence of members, had since elapsed in May 2023.

The stakeholders made this known in a statement signed and made available in Calabar by the representatives of Ogoja Zone, Elder Ignatius Ejim; Ikom LGA, Dr. Ramsey Ndep; Calabar Zone, Elder Edet Obot, and Secretary General, NAPPS, South-South, Tchr. Mike Abolade.

They also demanded a detailed statement of account from the association’s State President, Hon. Mike Egre, and Financial Secretary, Pastor Abraham Osok.

They questioned how funds of the association were spent throughout the 9 years in office and sought accountability.

The Stakeholders also expressed their displeasure over the manner and way in which election affairs are managed, calling for a review of the present zoning formula before state elections are conducted.

“That we lack total confidence in the members of the State Electoral Commission (SECOM), as we have seen the embattled Chairman of SECOM openly campaigning for some candidates,” they said.

Reacting, the embattled President of the association, Hon. Mike Egre, denied any wrongdoing.

He stresses that his tenure is supposed to elapse in March 2024 but as a gentleman, he is ready to quit before then.
