Cremonese Sporting Director Reveals Ongoing Negotiations With Rangers For Dessers

June 29, (THEWILL) – Glasgow Rangers are actively pursuing a potential deal for Super Eagles forward, Cyriel Dessers, from Cremonese, according to Simone Giacchetta, the Sporting Director of the Italian club.

Giacchetta revealed that Cremonese are currently awaiting a fresh proposal from Rangers after rejecting their initial bid, which fell short of their valuation of the prolific Nigerian striker. The Light Blues are keen to strengthen their attacking options for the upcoming season, and manager, Michael Beale, holds a strong admiration for the former Eredivisie top scorer.

In a recent interview, Giacchetta acknowledged the ongoing negotiations with Rangers even if progress had reached a standstill, while they awaited a revised offer from the Scottish outfit. He said, “There is a negotiation with Rangers underway but at the moment, everything is still because we are waiting for them to formulate the new proposal.”

With Rangers scoring 93 goals in the Scottish Premiership last season, trailing behind champions Celtic, who registered 114 goals, the addition of Cyriel Dessers, who netted 7 times across all competitions for Cremonese last season despite seeing fewer minutes, could potentially enhance their attacking options.

However, Rangers face competition from Italian side Torino in their Dessers’ pursuit. The forward’s impressive track record has attracted interest from various clubs, intensifying the competition for his services. As the negotiations between Cremonese and Rangers continue, the outcome of this potential transfer remains uncertain, with both parties eagerly anticipating the submission of a revised offer that aligns with the Italian club’s valuation of the Nigerian forward.
