BEVERLY HILLS, June 24, (THEWILL) – The High Court in Jos, Plateau State, has granted an Order compelling the Acting National Chairman of APC, Chief Victor Giadom, to hold the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting fixed for Thursday, June 25th, 2020.

The Order was made upon the Plaintiff/Application of the Chairman of Plateau APC, Mr Latep Dabang, who is also a member of the NEC.

Mr. Dabang expressed frustrations that the party has failed to convene its quarterly NEC meeting as provided for in its constitution, saying the NWC has serially abused and ignored the provision.

The NEC meeting which was called by the court backed acting national chairman, Chief Victor Giadom, will be held at the State House, Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari Wednesday confirmed his attendance and recognition of Giadom as acting chairman of the crisis engulfed ruling party.

Select members of the NEC will attend the meeting in person while others will join virtually.

Garba Shehu, the president’s spokesman, Wednesday said: “The President has received very convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the situation in the party is concerned and has determined that the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman.

“Because he will always act in accordance with the law, the President will be attending the virtual meeting Giadom called for tomorrow afternoon.

“We urge the media to stop promoting manufactured controversies and to not give any further room for mischievous interpretations of the law on this matter.

“In addition to the President, the Giadom meeting will, hopefully, be attended by our Governors and the leaders of the National Assembly.”

Meanwhile, members of the party’s NWC who are opposed to Giadom’s emergence as acting national chairman have said they would boycott the meeting describing it as illegal.
