July 10, (THEWILL) – American golfer, Allisen Corpuz, claimed her first LPGA victory in impressive fashion, winning the US Women’s Open by three strokes at Pebble Beach.

The 25-year-old from Honolulu, shot a three-under-par 69 in the final round to finish at nine-under 279 for the tournament, defeating England’s Charley Hull and South Korea’s Shin Ji-yai. Corpuz’s elation was clear from her words: “This week has just felt like a dream come true. It has been just awesome to be out at Pebble this week.”

Japanese golfer, Nasa Hataoka, who held the 54-hole lead, faltered in the final round with a 76, ultimately sharing fourth place with American Bailey Tardy on a total score of 285. Ayaka Furue of Japan and Kim Hyo-joo of South Korea finished in a tie for sixth place at 286.

Corpuz’s pivotal moment came at the par-3 12th hole, where she made an impressive par save from a bunker while Hataoka missed a short par putt. This turned the tide in Corpuz’s favour, and she capitalised on the opportunity by sinking key birdie putts at the 14th and 15th holes to surge ahead and secure the victory.

Corpuz’s performance throughout the tournament was characterised by solid play and mental composure. Her occasional nerves aside, she displayed confidence in her game. Her ability to maintain focus and embrace the opportunity to play at Pebble Beach contributed to her success. As the only player to finish under par in all four rounds, Corpuz showcased her exceptional skills and justified her place among golf’s elite, marking a significant milestone in her career.
