March 13, (THEWILL) – Controversy reigned at the Allianz Stadium as Juventus managed to scrape a 4-2 victory over Sampdoria.
Despite surging into a 2-0 lead early on, Juventus faltered and allowed Sampdoria to come back with two quick goals in the space of 72 seconds. However, Juventus managed to regain their footing and eventually secured the win thanks to Adrien Rabiot’s two goals. It seemed he controlled the ball with his arm before volleying in but it was given.
Both teams were forced to make significant changes due to an injury crisis, with several key players out of action. Moise Kean was suspended for Juventus after his red card against Roma, while Sampdoria missed Emil Audero and several other players. Even goalkeeper Martin Turk made his debut in the match.
The match was full of twists and turns, with missed penalties – Dusan Vlahovic struck the post in the 69th minute, controversial decisions, and several close calls. Despite the drama, Juventus managed to hold on for the win, much to the relief of their fans. The victory was crucial for Juventus as they look to qualify for Europe next season after the points deduction.
Juve will be in action on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League as they face German side Freiburg. Sampdoria, on the other hand, will be back in Serie A action on Sunday against Hellas Verona.
